sense?

Bad day. Not from the outside, sun is shining, but inside I am struggeling.
Here I am, attending the top Business School of Germany, Studying abroad at the best School in Latin America, did a good job at the last internship in Singapore. So what? My Prediploma (somehow like the Bachelor, but not really) spit out a bad grade. This grade is what I am measured by in the WHU-world, in the world of applying for the summer internship, the world of maybe finding your employer even before fininshing the degree. This grade says: Florian is an underachiever. Don`t take him. Although he has personality, proved to have analytic skills, is a fast thinker and social skills. His grades are bad, so don't even invite him for an interview. Wasted time.
This is quite a downer for my self esteem - being where I want to be, doing what I want to do, but not really rocking it. Does it make sense to be on this path when you are not one of the best 10%? Will it turn out to be the right decision? Will I end up somewhere happy and wealthy? Goddamn, I hate that pressure. Give me some comments to cheer me up, get me back to the ground or just leave your opinion.

yep.

I just realized that I have enough money on my account to pay the rent that is due for about one week (I _should_ pay in advance here) - thanks dad! - I just had the pleasure to read some notes concerning corporate strategy and Michael Dell in _english_ - I just looked at my watch and it is not as late as I feared - I just had a fine time reading anonymouslawyer.blogspot.com - this day is coming along very nice. Yep.

We partly had the same route with the girls I mentioned on the way back, so we met for dinner. Great Mexican food, and cheap as hell. As I am in the picture it is definiteley not my fault that Hansjörg is cut - I will put in an extra picture of him later to make up for that. Well, that is the Acapulco story, more or less, and I did not really do anything more than you can see, except the clubbing. Just relaxing on the beach, going for an occasional swim and a drink or two or so. It was wonderful!

Look at the scenery! Just to remember you: Mexico city is about 2200m above sea level, so whenever you approach it, you are in the mountains more or less. Here: More.

On the way back we stopped at that place where you could overlook a great plateau and that nice bridge. It was hot as hell, but the view was worth it.

And back we went on sunday, I just have to post another pic of the car. What a ride! Unfortunateley, Mexican streets do not allow to speed up really. My butt did not, also.

This guy came by talking to us while on his horse on saturday when the sun had sat. Hm, we should have paid more attention and not fall for that lousy trick. That minute of attention we gave him was the minute his companion needed to steal Hansjörgs bag, which carried his purse with credit card and stuff, my mobile and the key for the BMW. You should have seen Alejandro running out of the water as we told him that... luck nr.1: The car was still there, luck nr.2: He carried a spare key. Phew. Nevertheless, the evening was done and we spent the rest with having everything cancelled. So we learned our lesson, never feel save when you have been lucky for one day.

Just to prove that I was not the only pale person on the beach. Well, at least the smallest pale person. And no, I am not taking myself very serious. Do you?

Me again... boring? Well, my blog. The guys forced me to have that sticker-tattoo (whatever you call that in english) done - the mexican flag with speedy gonzales on it. I said "Arrrrrriba!" one time too often... Please don't comment on the pale skin, I had to hear that "you have been to Acapulco? I can't see that!" the last days from virtually every Mexican I met and I would have heard it from others, too, if there were any. (The other two German exchange students are pale themselves and Hansjörg doesn't count, as we are making fun of each other all the time)

Me, with hat and sunset.

The beach were we went (which is not the same place were the hotel is) was quite crowded on saturday, but as we had a place in the first row I didn't really care. Just more noise and more people. We slept till three in the afternoon anyway. Friday night had been a great adventure: We went to a disco called "amarada" which is situated at the hill facing the bay. The whole side is glass, so you can overlook the whole scenery from the dancefloor or the tables. It was totally incredible. Expensive, but with open bar :-) We went there with two girls Luis Paul had met at the beach (our neighbours). It was the best time I had in a club for a long, long time. The music was great, the people awesome, the drinks free, the look priceless. To make a long story short: I forgot to bring my camera, and we left when they closed at 6am. Wow!

Sunset.... beautiful. Take it as wallpaper for your computer if you envy me. Just kidding. I have it as wallpaper right now, that's more than enough.

The waves came in pretty heavy on saturday, the current nearly draw Hansjörg away from the beach. Beside that, it was a lot of fun and the water was refreshing but warm.

Wooohaa. Me. With hat. The beard is back right now and will stay on as long as I want. Makes me look a bit less uninteresting, as I love to polarize and draw opinions upon myself.

Day in, day out, there was someone passing by wanting to sell something, like this guy. But as we had some Mexicans with us, they didn't bother us too much.

We started the day with some decent drinks (boy, I never before had a drink on the beach in the morning - and for the rest of the day - this is what spring break must feel like... weird and funny) and enjoyed the view from our rented party-tent.

This is the living room of the flat, where Hansjörg and I slept. Was more comfortable than it might look like.

This is the view we had from the flat, which belongs to Luis Paul's family. Did I mention that before? Never mind. It is in the 22th floor of a large hotel, like the others you see in the picture. There was not one cloud on the sky and we had some solid 35 degrees celsius. Just fine for a day at the beach.

On thursday night (when we arrived), HJ and I decided not to join the others to a bar but enjoy a drink on the terrace and then go to sleep... well... we locked ourselves out - you see Hansjörg trying to fight the door, but we lost. Luckily, we had brought a bottle of Coke, a bottle of Bacardi and Chips, so we spent some hours chilling in the mild Acapulco night having some drinks and a really good talk. I got to know Hansjörg quite a bit better and I was totally surprised, as I had never thought we would actually have enough to talk about for an hour. Damn was I wrong! We fell asleep at about six in the morning, and when the others came home - lets say, a bit later - they released us. Needless to say that we could not reproduce that thing with the door, nor did we manage to even close it on purpose anytime after this. Crazy!

Having arrived first thing we did was shopping at Wal-Mart. As I realized, they have an incredible assortment of Beer, Tequila, Rum, Softdrinks and Chips. For sure, we bought plenty of all.

Here it is finally, the update with the Acapulco-Pics. Sorry for being so lame... I don't know, everytime I want to blog I am just in the middle of doing something, mostly like trying to understand what the hell the professor just said or scribble mor or less intelligent stuff onto one of the common "surprise"-test-sheets or just do nothing at the end of the day because my head is totally empty after another day studying in Mexico. It is great, but it is hard because we have to go full throttle here and that feels like - well, no idea. It feels like a difficult task that requires more steady work than I was hoping for, coming from all the struggle and fighting of the last three months at WHU. Well, that's how it seems to be: The world doesn't honor what you just did but what you do right now. Que pena. Well, about the picture: This is Humberto (in front), Luis Paul (left) me (middle) and Hansjörg (right). Alejandro was driving us in his wonderful BMW coupé, which is fast, furious, but not really made for three people in the back. As I was the smallest, I was lucky to sit in the middle, which means a dumb ass (no pun intended) during the whole 7 hour drive, of which we needed 2 to get out of the city. Incredible.

Back from the beach

SEEEEEEEEE! COMO NOOOOOOOO!

(use at own risk when seeing a beautiful girl passing by)

Hey friends, we're back from the beach, back from Acapulco!
It was a crazy time. Hansjörg and I went there with our colleagues Alejandro, Humberto and Luis Paul. The ride there was a bit painful, as Alejandros coupé is not really made for three people in the back), but it was definiteley worth it. We lived the flat of Luis Pauls family which is in a huge hotel-tower right at the beach and did nothing but party, party, party and soak up the sun. 35 degrees, blue sky, the pacific ocean... it was too good to be true.
I can't upload pictures right now (well, sitting in the lecture), but in the afternoon I will provide you with some fine material. Now it is time again to get into spanish... aargh... but its getting better, at least I hope so.
Hasta!
